One of the first questions buyers ask when beginning their home search is, “What is the MLS?” MLS is an acronym that is heard throughout the real estate arena and MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service. The MLS is a database service that provides information about homes available for sale.
Most real estate companies subscribe to the local MLS database service which reports information about the homes the company has available for sale. The MLS service, in turn, lists information generated from multiple real estate companies. This information is compiled and distributed in a report called the Multiple Listing Service.
